“She enjoys rain for its wetness, winter for its cold, summer for its heat. She loves rainbows as much for fading as for their brilliance.” – Morgan Llywelyn
A good friend of mine from back home is entering into a new season. She and her family are moving to Texas… and they also found out that they will be having a baby!
Before they left, the ladies from the church we both attended had a baby shower for her. One of the women in charge of planning it asked if I would share a devotional with the women via skype.
I love modern day technology! It was great to “be there” with them to celebrate and honor her!
What the Lord led me to say was straight from my heart and meant to bless my friend, but I think the message behind it is something that others may be encouraged by as well.
Therefore, I want to share a portion here with you from what I shared with her:
I was sitting outside in my back yard asking the Lord what he wanted me to share with you. As I glanced up and started looking around me, I noticed there is much evidence that the season is changing. The days are becoming shorter, the air is a bit crisper, all the leaves on the trees are changing color.
This made me think of the verse in Ecclesiastes that says:
To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven… a time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck; a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.
I read a quote from a blog recently that said:
“Each season of life we go through is beautiful” – unknown
That is so true!
Each season is unique and comes with it’s own set of conditions. Some of those conditions we welcome and others we don’t – some are desirable and some are challenging. But each season bears its own special form of beauty.
There have been many conditions that have defined your season there in California. I know there were times that you experienced complete joy, happiness, and laughter – but there were also times that were hard.
However, my sweet friend, I am fully convinced that the Lord has used ALL OF THEM to increase the beauty of the amazing person that you are! And not just increasing it in you, but also in all who have been blessed to walk this season with you. You have been such a blessing and inspiration to me, and to all of us. I’m so incredibly thankful for you!!
I know that this new season He is bringing you into will be full of abundance, blessing, joy, and even more beauty!
How about you?
What season are you in now?
Is the sky blue, or a shade of gray?
Is the sun shining, or is the rain falling?
Is the rainbow glistening, or is it fading?
Are flowers blooming, or are petals falling?
There is beauty in every season. The challenge for us is learning to discover it.
